Oceans

The ocean plays a key part in Japanese life. Japan is completely surrounded by ocean and many of its islands are separated by a vast distance of ocean. Since Japan is very narrow, everyone lives very close to the sea. Because of the short distance to the ocean, seafood is eaten all across Japan. Seafood is fresh, plentiful, and easy to obtain.
